Free is the core tool — permanent, no expiry. Pro adds the features professionals need (Large model, Ask, Semantic AI Actions, video, unlimited length). Same privacy promise on both.

Free transcribes single files, with caps. Pro removes the caps and turns transcripts into a system that gets more valuable the more you use it.

• No caps — Free gives you 300 minutes of recording a week, 2,000 words of dictation, and two AI Actions per recording. Pro removes all three caps: record all day, dictate without limit, run as many Actions as you like.
• Ask — type a question and get an answer drawn from every transcript in your library, with links back to the moments it came from.
• Semantic AI Actions across the library — Pro Actions can reference every transcript you've ever recorded: “summarise what we decided about Acme over the last six months,” or “find the deposition where the witness contradicted herself.”
• Large model — the biggest local model, highest accuracy, for transcripts you can't second-guess.
• Video — import video to transcribe, and export it with burned-in subtitles.

One HTTPS POST when you activate: licence key, app version, and a one-way hardware fingerprint (a salted SHA-256 digest — not reversible). While a licence is active, the app re-checks once a day with the same fields. Never recordings, transcripts, notes, attendees, or usage counters. Every connection the app can make is listed on the security page.

Not unless you ask it to. The models are downloaded once during setup and run entirely on this machine — pull the network cable and the result is identical. Optionally, you can connect a cloud provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Infomaniak in Switzerland) with your own API key; that stays off until you configure it.

The 2-seat limit applies to Pro unlocks, not installs. When you enter a Pro licence key, the app activates a Pro seat with the licence server. Two seats means Pro mode can be active on two machines at a time — enter the same key on a third machine and the server refuses, the app stays in Free mode there. The licence unlocks features, not the download.

Yes. Deactivate a seat from the dashboard or from app settings; the next machine you activate picks up the freed slot. No manual approval.
